Henrique Fagundes is passionate about operations and lean methodology. He is known as an energizing leader who inspires teams of colleagues and clients to engage in transformational journeys. He has an extensive international experience, having lived and worked in operations in the US, Brazil, Switzerland, and Russia and has supported clients in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. His 23 years of experience also includes a broad list of industries, such as chemical, petrochemical, mining, oil and gas, aluminum, agribusiness and transport.

Since joining McKinsey Implementation, Henrique has focused on leading operational excellence transformations for clients in Latin America. He has outstanding stature with senior clients and implementation drive on the shop floor. He works to build capabilities on the client’s transformation teams and coaching executives for the leadership of the transformation with the same passion.

Examples of his work include:

  • analyzed, defined and implemented a plan to accelerate the recovery activity for cleaning and maintaining 20+ tanks at a large aluminum refinery
  • led the analysis and plan for workforce productivity improvement for a large energy group, with several mills; delivering 27 percent FTE productivity improvement
  • defined the strategy and led the implementation of a full operational excellence transformation at an agribusiness client; selected, trained and coached 20 professionals to become lean experts and conduct the transformation throughout all operations
  • led the implementation of a lean management system at an airline’s ground operations, delivering improvement of 40 percent on customer satisfaction and building solid capability of the client to rollout to more than 150 airports

In his previous job at DuPont, Henrique filled a number of roles over his 20 years at the company, going from maintenance leader to six-sigma black belt to global leader of the Lean Center of Competence for Operations.
