Generation Pep
Our collaboration
The McKinsey Health Institute collaborated with Generation Pep to develop and publish a comprehensive view of the state of children’s health in Sweden. This research, conducted with input from leading academics and policy experts, provides an evidence-based view of how stakeholders across the country can collaborate in service of healthier futures for children.
Building on this work, MHI and Generation Pep supported a session under the leadership of the Crown Princess that convened stakeholders across government, healthcare, academia, civil society, and international organizations to make progress on two urgent challenges for Swedish children: obesity and mental health. Participants included senior public-sector and healthcare leaders, including the Minister for Social Affairs and representatives from WHO and Karolinska Institute.
Through support from the Crown Princess Couple Foundation, Generation Pep’s non-profit work is dedicated to improving the health of children and youth by promoting physical activity and healthy eating habits. Together, MHI and Generation Pep are bringing together leaders across the Swedish ecosystem to identify and make progress toward meaningful change.
This collaboration also connects to MHI’s broader work on prioritizing health as an asset for societies and economies. By focusing on prevention, earlier intervention, and shifting from healthcare to a focus on holistic health, stakeholders have an opportunity to improve outcomes for children while building healthier, more resilient communities over time.
