Helping US healthcare stakeholders understand the human side of the COVID-19 crisis: McKinsey Consumer Healthcare Insights

Healthcare stakeholders on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic must understand not only the disease itself, but also consumers’ questions, concerns, and behaviors. Our recent rapid-research effort in the US provides some early insights.

In McKinsey’s fourth COVID-19-focused healthcare consumer insights survey, conducted on May 18, respondents said they are less anxious and depressed compared to two months ago. They still express concern around in-person visits to healthcare facilities, even though they are a primary activity they would like to resume. Respondents also said they would like to see their workplace sanitized on a regular basis, more space between coworkers, and readily available hand sanitizer.
