Whether I one day wish to continue in the firm, return to academia, enter politics, or work in a specific industry, I know the skills I have developed will serve me well.

From Student to Business Analyst

The work I do as a Business Analyst has a significant impact on projects with our clients. It is such an invaluable experience to gain insights into our clients' biggest challenges, which I am incredibly grateful for. Simultaneously, there is a lot of room to grow, and my colleagues support me every step of the way.

As a student, I spent a lot of time working with seemingly random numbers in an Excel sheet or putting together generic content on a slide. Now, as a Business Analyst, what I produce carries real importance and has a tangible effect on the organization. This was a particularly big eye-opener for me compared to studying, where tasks often felt theoretical and lacked a direct connection to real-world impact.

Before joining McKinsey, I felt well-prepared and informed, but one thing I wish I had considered more thoroughly is the trade-offs of choosing the Business Analyst program. It is a unique path that can feel different from the direction many of your peers might take.

Building Valuable Skills for the Future

During my time at McKinsey, I have developed professional skills such as being analytical, communicating clearly and effectively, and managing people. These three competencies are applicable in many different contexts and are especially valuable if you want to make a difference in the community you are part of. Whether I one day wish to continue in the firm, return to academia, enter politics, or work in a specific industry, I know the skills I have developed will serve me well.
