People were genuinely willing to share their time, energy, and advice, which deeply resonated with how I want to meet people as well. Today, some of my closest friends are colleagues.

Connecting beyond the team room

When I joined McKinsey, my initial mindset was to work hard, learn a lot, and build my career. I didn’t really expect to make a lot of friends or for the workplace to become such a significant part of my life. However, starting alongside new colleagues, I was pleasantly surprised by how open and supportive everyone was. People were genuinely willing to share their time, energy, and advice, which deeply resonated with how I want to meet people as well. Today, some of my closest friends are colleagues.

Trust as a foundation

As these relationships grew, so did my confidence in bringing my whole self to work. At work and in teams, a unique dynamic often emerges where there is room to be vulnerable—whether it is asking for help, admitting when I don’t have all the answers, or relying on others to bring their strengths to the table. This culture is built on a strong foundation of trust at the firm and a shared commitment to supporting one another, both professionally and personally.
