Working on a transformation for a food client

Hi all,

I hope you enjoyed my honeymoon recap in the last post! Today I’m writing about what I’ve been working on with my clients.

Most of my time has been focused on a food client—we’re running an RTS transformation from the bottom up. This is an exciting project because we are helping the client transform their business across all of their areas, from manufacturing to indirect procurement. We ran an “ideation workshop” for all of their professional services including insurance spend, environmental health and safety, and more, and came up with about 50 potential initiatives. Now we’re going through them and figuring out how easy or hard they are to implement, what the potential impact could be, and whether or not they make sense to do. We are using our Wave tool to track all of these ideas to build them out further until they are ready to be executed.

I ran the 10k rock-n-roll race in Chicago with the Chicago office running club

I’m wrapping up some work with an energy client and a mining client by running capability trainings with them through McKinsey Academy. It’s nice to see these projects completed—we held a “train the trainer” session with the energy client to pass the capability onto the client, which is empowering for them! The photo at the top of the page is from that session and includes me with my colleagues Jorge, Casper, Amanda and Daniel.

The Midwest Women's Initiative held our second successful beach cleanup event

We just confirmed a procurement engagement with a client of ours of Atlanta, focused on packaging. I used to work with this client a couple of years ago, so it’s great to be back with them to see where they are now and what they want to do in the future.

Finally, all of the Operations partners and associate partners gathered a few weeks ago to learn about everything going on in our practice. It was amazing to be with 200 senior Operations colleagues and hear the breadth of work we’re doing. We also met as smaller service line groups to connect in a more detailed way. All in all, a great meeting!

Until next time,
