Procurement @ McKinsey

After years in a multinational corporation, Michael came to McKinsey’s Operations practice because it offered new challenges.

After working in a big multinational company for several years, it was time for a change in my career. By coincidence, I discovered a McKinsey job on LinkedIn. The role perfectly fit my career ambitions, so I went for it.

I’ve found the types of challenges I face and the day-to-day work is very different as a consultant compared to industry – and that’s a very good thing. For example, during one engagement, I worked with several of my clients’ procurement teams to improve how they sourced services. I met people in several countries across Europe, learned about their local issues, and worked with them to develop insights and recommendations for their procurement processes. The work itself was very interesting, but the relationships I developed were the best part. I have a network of talented professionals throughout Europe now.
