Make a difference in the real world

McKinsey City Cup Datathon is an international competition in which you can apply your machine learning and coding skills to tackle an exciting social challenge. Join us on the 23rd of November in Madrid, Munich or Moscow.

What made you decide to join McKinsey after the Datathon?

I had been pursuing a role as a data scientist since I got my masters. The Datathon convinced me McKinsey was the right place because it offered great people and great opportunities to make a difference in the real world.

Why did you decide to become a consultant instead of going into industry?

Consulting allowed me to learn about different industries and topics at a rapid pace at the start of my career as a data scientist. Plus, I have the option to travel a lot, which is always a good thing to me.

Your role in a nutshell?

As a data scientist at McKinsey, I do tons of different stuff. I use my technical knowledge to implement advanced analytics algorithms and soft skills to collaborate effectively with clients in different industries and colleagues from many backgrounds. My favorite type of technical work is prototyping models, then taking them to production.
