This programme is designed for university students in the United Kingdom and Ireland who are Black / African African-American or Afro-Caribbean, and are interested in connecting with members of the McKinsey Black Network).

Future Black Leaders Programme is just one of our many worldwide initiatives aimed at helping individuals get to know McKinsey better.

Event details

As a programme participant you will:

Learn about consulting and the work we do
Have monthly mentorship sessions with McKinsey consultants from diverse backgrounds in order to help you make the most of future consulting career opportunities
Attend McKinsey learning sessions led by exceptional business leaders and McKinsey colleagues and participate in informal discussions on topics such as leadership and problem solving
Join us for an immersive work experience opportunity in our London office to solve a real-life business case in early September 2024
Meet like-minded people: your programme peers and contacts at McKinsey will serve as a support system as you face personal and professional decisions in the coming years

You will be making some big choices over the coming years. What career path should I choose? What passions do I want to pursue? You might never have considered becoming a consultant, or even know what a consultant does. If you want to meet interesting people, develop your leadership skills and learn more about the consulting industry, this programme could be a great fit for you.

Eligibility

Future Black Leaders Programme is aimed at individuals who are Black/African/Afro-Caribbean or African-American and:

  • Are currently in their first year of undergraduate studies at a UK or Ireland university (or second year if enrolled in a four-year program)
  • Have an outstanding record of academic performance and leadership
  • Enjoy problem solving and creative thinking
  • Are interested in learning more about a career in consulting

Application Process

To apply, please submit the following by April 19, 2026:

  • Your CV;
  • A cover letter, in which you include your motivation for this programme, and a brief essay (250 words maximum) about your proudest or most interesting personal achievement. Please include the obstacles you overcame to reach this achievement and why it is important to you.

As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete Solve - McKinsey’s assessment game.
