Drives impact at the intersection of healthcare and transformation by formulating growth strategies, activating new business models, and architecting ecosystem alliances and partnerships

Alok serves a broad base of healthcare clients across payer, pharmacy benefit managers (PBM), retail, and investor organizations. During the past decade, he has guided several prominent industry-shaping pharmacy transactions and created thought leadership in evolving areas such as next-generation ecosystems, the rise of retail health channels, health affordability, and operational resiliency. His portfolio of capabilities spans strategic planning, business- and operating-model design, various phases of the M&A lifecycle, transformation management, and operations execution.

Alok’s recent experience includes the following:

  • architecting a large payer’s shift to insourcing their pharmacy business and entering a strategic partnership with a prominent PBM. The initiative captured approximately $4 billion in drug savings
  • leading the launch of a new pharmacy entity and designing the future-state operating model, based on a multiyear growth plan and strategic flexibility
  • advising a national payer on strategic planning and the migration of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial membership for millions of people to captive PBM
  • formulating the go-to-market and optimization strategies across product, sales, and business domains for an integrated health services entity
  • leading a retail organization’s $1.9 billion divestiture of its pharmacy business to a leading PBM and delivering an innovative store-in-store retail pharmacy business model at scale
  • developing value-based care strategies and provider alliance recommendations for a payer across more than five markets to reduce delivery system costs

Before joining McKinsey, Alok was a partner at Deloitte, where he served as the US pharmacy sector market leader. Passionate about people development, his previous roles include leading national healthcare recruiting and championing well-being, diversity, and inclusion.
