Bold design and smart technology combine to create a space that will foster client impact and peak performance
McKinsey & Company, the management consulting firm, has moved into new London offices at The Post Building, Museum Street.
After 25 years at 1 Jermyn Street, McKinsey moves to a new office located in London’s Knowledge Quarter – a cluster of over 100 academic, cultural, research, scientific and media organisations. McKinsey will be joined by QuantumBlack, the leading advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence company acquired by the firm in 2015.
The new office showcases McKinsey’s expansion of its client offering from beyond traditional strategy consulting into profession-leading capabilities in digital transformation, advanced analytics, capability building and design.

The office was designed around three key principles.
- A bold design vision ensures even greater collaboration with clients. The Post Building doubles McKinsey’s client convening space, which is configured to encourage co-working and co-creation, including hackathons, design workshops and sprints.
- Smart use of technology increases McKinsey’s impact without compromising confidentiality. The office is equipped with the latest VC and file-sharing technology to allow seamless virtual collaboration, and systems are in place to encourage a “practically paperless” environment.
- Peak performance is a priority. The new space is designed to enable colleagues to perform at their best within agile “neighbourhoods”. Flexible use of space allows colleagues to choose the space that’s best suited to the work they need to do, ranging from quiet and concentrated to social and collaborative. Employee well-being was front of mind in the design with healthy food options on each floor, ample natural light plus circadian lighting, a gym, mothers’ room and relaxation rooms, and wrap-around terraces offering panoramic views of the city.
The space, designed by architects MoreySmith, also boasts strong eco-friendly credentials. Built and designed to LEED-Gold standard, it has a wide array of both outdoor and indoor plants – including in the lights – and has nearly eliminated the need for single-use plastic, as well as a concerted effort to significantly reduce the amount of printing. In addition to this, the arrival of Crossrail, which will link the office to all parts of the city and country, along with over 400 bike storage spaces in the building, will encourage a reduction in the use of car travel.
