About Jonathan

Jonathan serves as chief executive of McKinsey’s Digital Capability Center (DCC) in Singapore. A hub for capability building, the DCC provides hands-on learning through demonstration and training in digital technologies. It is also McKinsey’s digital transformation center and a testing ground for piloting and scaling new solutions.

Passionate about innovation, Jonathan previously served as director of the McKinsey Innovation Campus (MIC), a partnership between McKinsey and the Singapore Economic Development Board to develop ground-breaking knowledge and expand research and thought leadership in the region. He led the creation of several centers of excellence under the MIC focused on digital disruption and its corresponding growth areas, which today include design and advanced analytics.

In addition, Jonathan serves clients in the public sector and in the infrastructure, energy, and industrial-goods sectors on issues related to strategy, operations, productivity, and transformational change.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • helping to turn around a delayed large-scale infrastructure project that was in mid-stage execution by redesigning the project-management function to improve performance management, subcontractor management, and plant commissioning and operationalization as well as to expedite materials
  • advising a global mining company on how to optimize the design and construction of a $2 billion mine, resulting in a 40 percent reduction in capital expenditure and 10 percent reduction in operating costs
  • supporting numerous transformational-change programs for energy companies in Southeast Asia

In 2016, Jonathan left McKinsey to work at a consulting company, where he was responsible for crafting and aligning its group strategy across business units and geographies. He also led its innovation program, where he charted the company’s innovation road map and oversaw the beginning of its transformation into a digital architecture, engineering, and consulting company.

Jonathan was a Singapore government scholar and held various R&D planning and policy-formulation roles in the Singapore Administrative Service at the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Home Affairs. A graduate of the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, he is also an active national serviceman in the Singapore Armed Forces.
