My path to McKinsey
After completing my master’s degree at Delft, I accepted a job as a business-IT consultant at IBM’s Global Business Services in Amsterdam. A native of Romania, I was eventually drawn to McKinsey Bucharest because of my desire to be closer to family and my passion for technology. McKinsey offers an unrivaled mix of people, skills, and tools to help clients develop better, more efficient digital products and services. I wanted to be a part of that.
Diverse client work
I collaborate directly with clients and experts to define the digital and IT strategies of companies. The clients I work with are large companies from the banking, telecom, and automotive industries. My day-to-day work is filled with energy and close collaboration with clients spanning from executive to middle-management levels.
Rewarding and meaningful experiences
My favorite client project was for an automotive company. We helped shape its IT organization and define the company’s digital strategy to enable smart mobility and sustainable transportation. It was a fantastic opportunity to grow my knowledge and spend my energy on work that would help the company, society, and the environment.

The Bucharest office feels like a group of close friends who have authentic care for and interest in one another. Everyone is very smart. We are also eager to help one another—not only with project challenges but also with our own career paths and success at McKinsey. This camaraderie naturally extends into our personal lives. It is common to grab a drink after work on a Friday or travel with colleagues over the weekend.
