McKinsey’s relentless focus on living our values was new to me. One of our values centers around being nonhierarchical. I see this in action every day. All team members, from the most senior partner to the newest hire, work together to solve the client’s problem and deliver the best of the firm.

Choosing McKinsey

Before joining McKinsey in 2017, I worked in consulting for four years. I loved my work, but it kept me far from home. I returned to Romania to be closer to my loved ones. At McKinsey Bucharest, I was thrilled to find a professional home to complement my personal one.

Commitment to values

For some experienced hires, joining McKinsey requires a shift in how they work and approach problem solving. Being familiar with the consulting industry, I did not experience this. I experienced a deeper, more profound change. McKinsey’s relentless focus on living and applying our values was new to me. For example, one of our values centers around being nonhierarchical. I see this in action every day. All team members, from the most senior partner to the newest hire, work together to solve the client’s problem and deliver the best of the firm.

Rewarding, meaningful experiences

McKinsey has been an exciting, inspiring place to explore new industries and partner with experts. I have served clients in banking, insurance, medical devices, and advanced industries. The topics span the value chain. But I have always been interested in digital—how it shapes and affects industries. At McKinsey, I can cocreate this impact alongside a range of talented colleagues, from service designers to customer-experience experts, software engineers, and data analysts. This experience of defining a digital strategy, bringing it to reality, and seeing the impact is unique and exciting.

I enjoy working and meeting with colleagues abroad. I work across Asia, Europe, and the United States—but I always look forward to returning home to the Bucharest office on Fridays.
