About Zdravko

Zdravko is an experienced partner at McKinsey and one of the leaders of the Public Sector Practice, engaging with clients across the European government landscape on a broad range of technology and digital topics. He is also behind McKinsey’s talent acquisition and people development strategy, leading recruiting efforts in the UK.

Zdravko specializes in supporting the various dimensions of complex technology-led IT and business transformations. He brings extensive experience in designing and enabling large-scale IT modernization programs, supporting clients with strategic and commercial advice in environments with large proportions of external-vendor service provision, and designing the underpinning IT operating models and organizational designs.

Zdravko brings a broad array of professional experiences to McKinsey, from starting his career as the owner of a small IT company to helping launch a flagship technology start-up in the mobile payments space. He also brings six years of experience in the transformation of government operations, where he led the cost optimization of over $1 billion in annual public sector spend during the financial crisis of 2007 to 2009.

Zdravko obtained his Master’s degree in public administration from the leading US program at Syracuse University and then earned his MBA from INSEAD. Zdravko has recently participated as a speaker in international conferences, including at NATO Engages of the annual NATO Summit in 2018—where he spoke at the same stage as leaders including Justin Trudeau and Ursula von der Leyen—and at the conference organized by the UK Government Finance Function in Liverpool in 2020.

Outside of work, Zdravko is an avid football player ever since growing up in Bulgaria, during his years living in Miami, he founded and captained a semi-professional team. Beyond football, he enjoys spending time with his family and young daughter. In the future, Zdravko wants to focus on his childhood passion for dogs and build a network of adopt-only shelters.
