Steven serves established insurance carriers and brokers, third-party adjusters and service providers, as well as industry disruptors and private-equity clients. His product expertise includes property and casualty, life, and health insurance. A former underwriter, he works across the insurance value chain and has extensive knowledge of underwriting, risk selection, and claims.
Committed to innovation, Steven is passionate about anticipating digital disruption. He helps clients understand and utilize cutting-edge technology to reimagine their product offerings and customer experience, operations, and employee engagement. For example, Steven counsels clients on how sensor and Internet of Things technology can significantly alter the loss prevention curve. He works actively on the future of mobility and advises clients on how the four ACES trends—autonomous driving, connectivity, electrification, and smart mobility—can transform industries, including personal and commercial auto.
Skilled in developing market and product-entry strategies, Steven has worked throughout Canada, China, Europe, India, South America, and the United States. He is a frequent speaker at key insurance industry conferences and has published several thought leadership pieces in industry journals.
Steven first joined McKinsey in 1989 and served as an engagement manager until his departure in 1995. He returned to the firm in 2017.
