Somesh coleads McKinsey’s banking and securities practice globally. He brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services to his work, helping clients strengthen their businesses. Previously, he led McKinsey Digital for financial services globally. He has a proven track record of helping companies build and scale new capabilities, and of deploying the power of digital and advanced analytics to create greater value and enhance performance.
Somesh serves banking and insurance companies on a wide range of issues, including productivity transformation, digital strategy, organization, sales and marketing, operations, technology, and risk management. He has supported retail banks on digital transformations, sales-force performance, profitability improvement, and business-process reengineering. He has also worked with credit-card companies on achieving growth through digital acquisitions, marketing optimization, and product innovation. In the property and casualty-insurance space, Somesh has helped clients bring about growth in specialty, commercial, and personal lines, and undergo claims transformation. He has also served life-insurance companies on digital strategy, sales, and operations.
Prior to launching and scaling McKinsey Digital for financial services, Somesh led the firm’s New York office.
In addition to his work with McKinsey, Somesh has served as a director of the board of the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts since 2012 and is an active participant at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
