Brings deep expertise in generics to help pharmaceutical clients drive marketing & sales performance and improve market access

Simon is a leader in our Life Sciences Practice in Europe and co-leads the Global Generics Interest Group. Since joining McKinsey in 2002, Simon has offered advisory support to a range of healthcare companies globally—bringing deep expertise in the dynamics of generic versus branded drugs. His clients have included manufacturers looking to grow their business and transform performance. He helps executives navigate product life-cycles, optimize brand strategies and portfolios, and achieve better market access

Given an ever more complex and integrated healthcare landscape, Simon also brings experience in marketing and sales, helping pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and retailers create winning strategies. He has directed marketing and sales excellence programs for clients in Europe, Japan, and the US, including companies focused in specialty pharmaceutical areas such as dermatology.

He has also supported clients with post-merger management and integration efforts both in the pharmaceutical space as well as the wholesale and pharmacy markets.

Examples of his work include:

  • helping a leading pharmaceutical company in Eastern Europe improve the performance of its field sales force
  • developing a global strategy and defining the product portfolio for a leading branded generics company
  • advising on post-merger integration and brand positioning for a large retail pharmacy chain
  • leading due diligence efforts for private equity clients looking to make investments in the healthcare sector

Before joining McKinsey, Simon studied the healthcare sector, earning an advanced degree in health care economics. He is also a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
