About Sastry

Sastry is a core leader in the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products Practice, the Healthcare Technology Practice and leads McKinsey’s client work, research, and capabilities on big data / advanced analytics and digital health. He also leads the Center for Analytics and Real-world Evidence (CARE), focusing on creating innovative solutions for clients.

Sastry brings over 16 years of experience to help executives grow and innovate through a period of intense technology disruption. Examples of his recent work include:

  • Supporting a multi-year digital and big data transformation at a major healthcare client to unlock innovation, increase patient intimacy and drive operational effectiveness
  • Helping a leading regulatory agency scale-up and embed technology and big data in day-to-day operations and decision making
  • Supporting several large and mid-size health technology players transform their strategy and go-to market models
  • Conducting multiple outside-in target assessments and due-diligences in the healthcare technology space for strategic and investor clients

Prior to joining McKinsey, Sastry held a variety of roles in product development and operations at GE Healthcare. He is a Six Sigma Blackbelt, and the holder of multiple patents. He holds a Masters in Management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Sastry has authored several articles for leading journals such as McKinsey Quarterly and Nature and speaks regularly at healthcare industry conferences such as the European MedTech Forum, Pharmaceutical Strategy Conference and the Digital Health Coalition.
