About Rogerio

Rogerio leads our Consumer Packaged Goods and Retail Practices for Spanish-speaking Latin America. He advises global consumer-goods companies and retailers, supporting efforts to achieve top-line and bottom-line performance. With a particular focus on strategy and corporate finance, he helps executives manage revenue while pursuing successful growth.

In 2005, Rogerio began his McKinsey career in our Brazil office, after receiving an MBA from the business school at Columbia University. After a brief stint in our London location, he returned to São Paulo. He has since worked across a broad range of consumer categories, including food, home care, personal care, and apparel. In retail, he has worked with grocers, big-box and specialty retailers, and restaurants.

With strong, firsthand insights into the Latin American market, Rogerio takes a transformational view, helping leaders develop successful market-entry strategies, find commercial opportunities, drive operational turnarounds, and improve quality.

Examples of his work include the following:

  • defining an international strategy for a leading food company, supporting implementation in key geographies
  • developing a growth strategy for a department-store chain in Central America
  • leading a turnaround program for a specialty retailer, resulting in $50 million in annual savings
  • directing an efficiency program for a major grocery retailer, resulting in $150 million in annual savings
  • designing and implementing a joint venture between two global food companies in Asia
  • leading a due diligence effort for an international consumer company assessing market-entry strategies in Brazil

Before joining McKinsey, Rogerio worked at Accenture as a senior consultant, where he focused on the consumer-products industry. He publishes frequently on consumer-sector dynamics, focusing on sources of growth and gaining profits in emerging markets. Rogerio is a native speaker of Portuguese, fluent in English, and conversant in Spanish.
