About Onur

As the co-leader of our North American Wealth and Asset Management Practice, Onur draws on deep experience serving leading investment institutions around the world. Since joining McKinsey in 2001, he has advised asset managers, private equity firms, wealth managers, hedge funds, investment banks, and insurers. He has experience with all institutional and retail segments, asset classes, and products.

Onur’s advisory work covers a range of C-suite topics, including corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operating model design and transformation, and new business building. He has also advised executives as they refine risk management practices, boost operational and sales performance, and enhance the use of digital technology.

Keenly interested in helping companies work from a strong fact base, Onur led an initiative to create a suite of technology-enabled analytics applications for asset and wealth managers. Known as Performance Lens, the tool mines proprietary benchmarking and forecast data to help make better decisions and drive improved performance. He also guided the recent acquisition of the investment software company Pricemetrix to expand McKinsey’s capabilities in wealth and asset management technology and data analytics.

Committed to sharing insights and fostering debate, Onur has published extensively on the dynamics and challenges in the asset and wealth management sector. Recently, his research and writing have focused on the factors driving the demand for alternative assets, including hedge funds, funds of funds, private equity, real estate, commodities, and infrastructure. He has also directed efforts to explore developments in core segments including retirement, pension plans, and ETFs. A regular speaker at at industry forums, his views have frequently appeared the business press, including Businessweek, The Economist, The Financial Times, CNBC Pensions & Investments, and The Wall Street Journal.

Onur sits on the board of directors of Graham Windham, a nonprofit that has pioneered programs for New York City’s disadvantaged children, families, and communities since 1806.
