About Michele

Michele co-leads our Electric Power and Natural Gas Practice in Southeast Asia, based in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the power and energy industry and has deep expertise in Southeast Asia, having moved to the region in 2008 to better serve clients in the region. Since joining McKinsey, he has worked extensively in the energy sector, with government bodies and regulators, private energy companies and state-owned enterprises. He serves these organisations on multi-year transformations, strategy, energy policies and operational efficiency to help them achieve sustainable improvement at scale. Michele has worked with clients across Europe, Africa, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Michele's recent work include:

  • leading the power sector restructuring and regulatory strategy of an electricity regulator in Southeast Asia
  • defining the business portfolio strategy and generation operational excellence program for a SOE power company in Indonesia
  • designing the Finance transformation program for a major state-owned power company in South East Asia
  • developing the carbon abatement and energy efficiency roadmap by sizing and identifying initiatives in various sectors for a national agency
  • assisting client in assessing viability of alternative options for energy supply (e.g. coal gasification) to reduce dependence on gas
  • helping gas-importing countries in defining the best procurement framework and relevant protocols for the regas plant to ensure energy security as well as competitive source of supply
  • designing the energy mix of a Southeast Asian country including designing the nuclear programme, to ensure the future energy security of the nation
  • developing the IPP strategy for an energy player entering the power business
  • Leading the Generation Operational excellence programme at a large SOE power company
  • helping with the transformation programme at a large power company which included reviewing their 5-year strategy, customer service improvement, and international and new business expansion strategy
  • assisting a government agency in shaping the roadmap for alternative technologies in the land transportation and in designing the business model for electric vehicles

Prior to McKinsey, Michele was a project leader at The Boston Consulting Group, a consultant at Accenture, and a a project manager at Saipem (Eni Group), where he was based in Nigeria.
