Luis draws upon a background in engineering and computer science, and a passion for business in order to support greater efficiency and performance in the healthcare industry. Focusing on technology-enabled growth and digital transformation, he has advised a wide range of organizations in the sector, from healthcare payors and health systems to pharmacy benefit managers and ancillary service providers. In all his work, Luis helps leaders meet the challenges of a rapidly changing industry.

Taking a strategic view, Luis guides executives through mergers, reorganizations, and complete transformations. He has applied technology innovation to lower costs, improve efficiency, and increase quality of care. Luis leads efforts to set digital strategies and then supports the subsequent delivery.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • developing a full digital strategy for a national health plan and supporting its subsequent 18-month delivery
  • digitizing the medical organization of a large regional health plan, capturing administrative savings and increasing provider satisfaction
  • guiding a large regional health plan’s transition to a shared-technology model to leverage capital savings on digitization
  • developing a technology-project prioritization and capital-allocation methodology for a large regional healthcare payor, focused on efforts with highest value for the business
  • helping a national health plan prepare for enterprise integration after a major merger
  • redefining the business model of large pharmacy benefits manager and launching a 3-year transformational strategy

Luis speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish. He practices Vipassana meditation and is a member of the associate board at the Bowery Mission in New York City, which provides homeless men and women with hot meals, emergency shelter, medical care, and life-transforming programs.
