About Laurent

Laurent Nordin joined our Paris office in 1999 and transferred to Dubai in 2002. He leads our Sovereign Wealth Funds Practice for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and co-leads our global Principal Investors and Family-Owned Business practices.

Laurent’s passions are corporate transformations and governance—critical areas for sovereign wealth funds. He has helped leading institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries design and implement multi-year growth and performance journeys spanning a wide variety of projects, including strategy, organisation, mergers and acquisitions, and operations. He has served major Gulf-based family groups over many years on a broad range of issues.

Other experience includes redefining the portfolio strategy of a leading, listed European family-owned conglomerate with a broad portfolio of assets in manufacturing and services industries and helping a global family-owned luxury goods group define the turnaround plan of a newly acquired jewellery company.

Laurent organised the first McKinsey Family-Owned Business conference in Dubai. He also leads McKinsey’s involvement in the GCC Board Directors Institute, a not-for-profit organisation that he co-created to support better corporate governance, primarily through building board members’ capabilities.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Laurent worked for 4 years at Cegelec, then part of the Alcatel-Alsthom group, managing large turnkey projects in France, Greece, and Cyprus.
