Julian is a partner in McKinsey’s London office and a leader in the corporate restructuring group of McKinsey’s Transformation Practice.
Julian brings more than 30 years of experience in complex debtor-side restructuring and corporate finance advisory services. He has held several chief restructuring officer positions across Europe, helping distressed companies create a blueprint for successful long-term recovery of the business. Julian has served organizations across a range of industries, including industrials, technology, chemicals, communications, retail products, healthcare services, and real estate.
Examples of Julian's restructuring experience prior to joining McKinsey include the following:
- serving as restructuring officer for a global business that designs, manufactures, installs and services a range of high-tech survival and safety products for the marine, aerospace, and defence industries
- serving as executive chairman and restructuring officer of an industrials group in Spain, appointed to oversee the financial restructuring, business transformation, break up and ultimate sale for the fund owners
- serving as chief restructuring officer of a leading UK care home operator to lead the financial restructuring of its complex debt structure for commercial mortgage-backed securities
Previously, Julian served as a partner with Talbot Hughes McKillop and Arthur Anderson, latterly in Chicago. He is a qualified accountant and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He also holds a B.A. in Accounting and Financial Management from Newcastle University and a Masters in Management (Sloan programme) from the London Business School.
