About João

João leads the firm’s work in insurance and is one of the leaders of the McKinsey Digital Practice for Latin America. He has 15 years of management consulting experience serving clients in the financial services industry in a range of areas, including strategy, M&A, the implementation of digital technologies, and operational performance.

Examples of Joao’s client work include the following:

  • developing and implementing a digital, direct strategy and operation for two of the largest insurers in Latin America
  • leading an operating profit turnaround at the Brazilian operation of a global insurer
  • launching an insurance greenfield operation in Colombia
  • developing a regional expansion strategy to South America for one of the largest Brazilian insurers in the P&C market
  • reviewing the life business strategy of one of the largest insurers in the Brazilian market
  • implementing lean operations of a global insurer with solid presence in Brazil
