About Gonzalo

Gonzalo focuses on serving financial-services clients on issues of strategy and digital transformation. He is one of the digital banking leaders in McKinsey’s Mexico office.

Gonzalo specializes in retail and wholesale banking, insurance, and asset management, serving financial institutions in Latin America and North America.

Some examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • developing a 5-year strategic plan and go-to-market strategy—including digital aspirations—for a major Central American bank, focusing on its retail, wholesale, and development-bank business units
  • defining the digital strategy and transformation for a major insurance company in Mexico
  • structuring a performance-management and incentive system for the retail and wholesale divisions of a major Latin American bank
  • defining the aspiration targets, assessing the capability platform, and identifying the innovation initiatives for a leading microfinance institution in Mexico
  • transforming the retail-bank business unit of a Latin American bank following a client segmentation effort
  • implementing cross-selling-improvement and pricing programs in the cash-management department of a leading Mexican bank
  • defining the Mexico market-entry strategy for a North-American asset manager
  • supporting a cost-reduction transformation effort for a major US insurance company

In addition to his client work, Gonzalo has been instrumental in the development of digital knowledge in the region (more specifically, in the fintech arena) and is a key point of contact for digital-related events in Mexico, such as hackathons.
