Doug is a leader in the firm’s Electric Power & Natural Gas Practice and has served energy companies on a variety of issues across operations and strategy.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • leading a comprehensive performance transformation for an energy company to improve productivity across its generation, wholesale, and retail operations, delivering a 35 percent reduction in overhead
  • developing a new corporate strategy for an energy company to successfully position the organization in an industry-facing market and technology disruptions
  • supporting the development of a new-business venture related to electric vehicles and mobility, seen as a strategic long-term option to diversify the client’s business
  • leading a throughput-optimization study for a metal refinery focused on building lean management and digital capabilities to reduce production losses, resulting in a 12 percent increase in production

Prior to joining McKinsey, Doug worked as an accountant for Ernst & Young, serving clients in Asia, Europe, and North America.
