About Arul

Arul supports leading organizations as they drive broad-based initiatives to stay ahead of technology disruptions and pursue sources of growth. When working with companies in the high-tech sector, he advises C-suite executives as they define new strategies, set product roadmaps, optimize offer design, and pursue go-to-market transformations. For clients in the retail, financial-services, and insurance industries, Arul helps drive digitization efforts and devise effective cloud strategies.

Drawing on nearly 2 decades of product- and business-building experience in the technology industry, Arul brings hands-on implementation expertise and deep technical knowledge. He also seeks to help leaders and rising leaders reach their full potential.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • delivering a business plan to help a B2B technology company establish a new business entity with more than 1,000 employees
  • developing a platform-as-a-service offering for an enterprise-IT company to help expand the portfolio and drive new growth
  • helping a software-as-a-service company design a product portfolio to penetrate a new market and drive recurring revenue
  • setting up a new software business unit and operating office for a technology-solutions provider to develop new go-to-market approaches
  • formulating a 5-year strategy for a digital-media company to inspire innovation and pursue adjacent business opportunities
  • guiding a technology provider through the product development and business-model adjustments required to transition from packaged software to a software-as-a-service model
  • helping a financial-services company migrate workloads to the public cloud

Interested in understanding industry dynamics and fostering debate, Arul leads McKinsey’s research efforts on the implications of cloud computing for technology providers. He also convenes the Silicon Valley chapter of the Chief Infrastructure Technology Executives Roundtable and is a university guest lecturer.

Before joining McKinsey, Arul led product-management teams at a multinational technology company focused on delivering enterprise collaboration solutions on mobile devices. Active in his community, he leads local volunteer, fundraising, and pro bono consulting projects.
