Alberto Marchi

Senior Partner, Milan
Advises global and regional energy companies on challenges involving organization, strategy, risk, and regulation

About Alberto

As a senior partner in McKinsey’s Milan office, Alberto serves clients in the electric-power, natural-gas, and renewable-energy industries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. In particular, he has advised many utilities on refocusing their strategies around renewable energy and distributed generation.

He is the global leader of our Regulatory Practice which works on policy making, business regulation, and stakeholder management. In addition, he is a European leader of our Electric Power & Natural Gas and Strategy Practices.

Alberto has led many major transformation programs in the electric-power and natural-gas sectors. Among his client projects, he has supported one large utility in refocusing its strategy on sustainable energy, another in managing the process of unbundling and privatization, and yet another in crucial regulatory negotiations at the national and European levels.

In addition to leading client projects, Alberto contributes to our in-house research and development. He helped tailor our global greenhouse-gas abatement model to Italy and plays an active part in shaping the CO2 debate at the EU level.
