About Alasdair

Alasdair is a leader of McKinsey Implementation in Australia. He works closely with clients to deliver sustainable performance improvements by building organizational capabilities, providing personal coaching to business leaders, and ingraining the mindsets and processes for continual improvement.

Since joining McKinsey in Milan in 1993, Alasdair has served clients on a range of topics in mining, metals processing, manufacturing, banking, business services, and consumer goods. His recent client work involves leading teams on operational and organizational topics, including:

  • rapid reduction in overhead and contractor costs at a regional leader in construction materials
  • building management capabilities and driving improvement initiatives at a group of smelting operations in response to a fast decline in metal prices
  • an end-to-end cost reduction program for a division of a global mining company, decreasing operating expenses by more than 10 percent
  • structural streamlining of production at a large open-pit mining operation

Alasdair brings a wide array of experience to McKinsey from his work in private equity and corporate finance, as well as from his time as an officer in the Welsh Guards specializing in jungle warfare.
