About Adam

Adam is a senior actuarial expert in McKinsey’s New York office. He has deep knowledge of the US healthcare industry, with a focus on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its impact on individual, small-group, and Medicare markets.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • developing a roll-forward model to help healthcare clients predict post-ACA financial results by member and deploying it to two large payers
  • designing small-group strategies for healthcare payers to capture groups that are expecting to leave the market
  • helping healthcare payers with individual pricing strategies for health-insurance-exchange plans, including modeling competitive responses and impact on the payers’ businesses
  • helping a healthcare client build an infrastructure to analyze and predict, at the member level, expected future profitability under the ACA individual- and small-group-market rules
  • working with several healthcare clients on Medicare Advantage–entry strategies
  • working extensively on value capture for merger-management projects for healthcare systems and services, especially as related to provider network costs and medical management
