Careers in Norway

Working at McKinsey Norway

Office culture

Our Norway office is made of passionate and energetic professionals who enjoy working together, learning from one another, and helping our clients succeed. We are a small office of approximately 120 consultants and 40 support staff. Our size makes it possible to develop strong local relationships in an inclusive, supportive atmosphere. At the same time, our people capitalize on the breadth of McKinsey’s global network by working on projects around the world.

As a community of lifelong learners, we believe in providing our people with the best professional development. Our commitment to attracting and shaping top talent can be seen in the number of senior McKinsey leaders who hail from Oslo. Four of our partners have held top positions in the Firm. As some of our senior partners have accepted global positions and transitioned into adviser roles, a new generation of young partners has emerged. The recent evolution of the Norway office’s partner group illustrates the strength of our leadership development and the unparalleled opportunities we offer exceptional people.

McKinsey is a highly diverse organization. In the Oslo office, our consultants represent 14 nationalities. Women make up around one-third of our consultants and 50 percent of new recruits, and our women’s network provides coaching and events to support professional development and connectivity.

As committed as we are to client success and professional growth, we also like to have fun. We socialize regularly at recruiting events, office retreats abroad, and internal parties.

Community involvement

We are devoted to the communities in which we work and live. McKinsey Norway regularly partners with leading not-for-profit, civic, and academic institutions on social initiatives. Recent examples include:

  • working with Business for Peace to promote sound business practices and drive social impact
  • supporting a variety of green initiatives to safeguard our natural environment
  • helping to establish Digital Norway, a forum for organizations to share insights and practices as they digitize their businesses
  • advising on local initiatives aimed at improving education outcomes and mentoring our youth, such as the Crown Prince and Princess’ Foundation.

Our colleagues are equally active in their communities—as sports fans and athletes, musicians, parents, artists, and volunteers. Some serve on boards of nonprofit organizations; others have founded their own charities.
