Leads our Sustainability Practice in Latin America, helping companies and countries meet future energy and water demand while minimizing cost and pollution; brings deep experience in advising private and public sector energy clients on strategy, operations, and organization

Pablo leads our Sustainability Practice in Latin America, and previously led our Energy and Basic Materials Practice in the region. Pablo serves clients in the private and public sectors—in Mexico, the US, and across the Americas—on strategy, operations, and organization topics.

Pablo has deep experience in shaping regional economic development strategies and large-scale institutional transformation programs in the public sector.

Examples of his client work include designing a country’s mining strategy, together with the institutional change to support it; applying cost curves to define a portfolio of projects for a national water commission; and designing an integrated national project portfolio of renewable energy opportunities.

Pablo also developed a national energy policy for a Latin American country—with the objective of minimizing costs, meeting future energy demand and environmental needs, and identifying required investments in refining, gas, and electricity generation.

His work with energy companies includes reviewing a global oil company’s exploration strategy; defining a technology strategy to develop one of the world’s largest heavy oil deposits; and designing a professional talent strategy for a national oil company. He also designed a carbon abatement strategy for a major exploration and production company.

Pablo served as a board member of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), a leading center for research and higher education in Mexico, between 1995 and 2005.

Before joining the McKinsey, he was CFO of a specialty chemicals company.
