About Tarek

Tarek Elmasry leads our Middle East Practice, overseeing all McKinsey operations in the region and our offices in Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Dubai, Karachi, Manama, and Riyadh. He is based in Dubai and is a member of the McKinsey Global Institute Council, which advises on MGI's research on global economic, business, and technology trends.

During his McKinsey career, Tarek has been based in our Chicago, Sydney, and Jakarta offices. He was previously co-leader of our global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice, and he has deep experience in serving clients in that sector.

Tarek counsels CEOs and senior executives on a range of strategic and organisational issues across industries and the public sector. In his 20 years with McKinsey, Tarek has served clients in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Tarek is a long-standing active board member of the Interfaith Youth Core, the largest interfaith youth organisation in North America.

An Egyptian American born in the United States, Tarek spent much of his formative years between the United States and Egypt.

Prior to joining McKinsey, he founded and ran an advertising-sales company.
