Digitization, AI, and the future of work: Imperatives for Europe

Digitization in Europe remains uneven, and overall the region remains behind China and the United States on its adoption of AI and automation. MGI suggested that governments should lead by example on digital, accelerate completion of the digital single market, embrace digital platforms and innovators, invest in creating a leading digital ecosystem, and invest and experiment with AI and other emerging technologies. Leaders also need to prepare for dynamic changes in the labor market in the digital era.

This briefing note was prepared for the meeting of EU heads of state at the Tallinn Digital Summit.
