About Angela

Angela works across the United Kingdom, where she supports NHS payors and providers on service redesign, quality, care integration and productivity. She also leads the McKinsey Healthcare Practice in Spain.

Since joining McKinsey, Angela has served NHS clients on complex reconfiguration programmes. She also spent 4 years in North America, stepping in to lead McKinsey’s special needs populations (SNP) work—addressing the needs of patients with behavioural health and/or long-term care needs—as well as the SNP advanced analytics team. She recently led the McKinsey thinking on addressing the opioids epidemic in the United States.

During her time in North America, Angela served leading Medicaid, state, and private healthcare insurers on scaling up innovative payment models; setting up accountable care organisation programmes; and improving payment integrity, care management, and population-health management. She has also helped address cost efficiency challenges through methods, such as overhead value analysis, healthcare value optimisation, automation, and digitisation. She also served leading health systems in Latin America, where she also led the McKinsey’s Healthcare Systems & Services Practice, helping institutionalise programmes to reduce maternal mortality, provide integrated care to complex diabetic patients, and improve hospital performance for leading national-health systems.

Angela has extensive experience in integrated health management and long-term conditions, especially focusing on prevention in the areas of diabetes, obesity, and mental health. She is a frequent speaker and author on these topics.

Angela acted as chair of the board of Kids’ City, a charity providing educational services to children in South London, and has a strong commitment to volunteer work, specifically related to education, public health, and women in STEM.

She currently serves as a governor of the London School of Economics (LSE) and a member of the LSE audit and risk committee. Angela also serves on the external advisory board of the US National Cancer Institute-sponsored Centre for Research Excellence in Mesoamerica for Cancer and Diabetes, which works with the Mexican Institute of Public Health.
