As the population in the United States has become increasingly concentrated around urban centers, rural communities are often overlooked. However, these areas account for a significant portion of the country, representing one-seventh of the total population and generating approximately $2.7 trillion, or nearly 10 percent, of the US GDP. Despite their substantial contribution, rural communities have not shared equitably inthe economic development of the United States.
Our focus on rural economic mobility aims to provide a data-driven, nonpartisan perspective on the opportunities for rural America to thrive, with insights on rural communities, people, and economies.
