On the public exchange in 2014, there were more networks offered with a greater prevalence of narrower networks. Incumbents offered 20% more networks and 3 times as many narrow networks. Nationally, 52% of networks were narrowed, 60% of networks in large cities.  Narrow networks were associated with lower prices as almost 70% of lowest priced products use narrowed networks and broad networks result in a median premium increase of 13-17%.  Still, 21% of previously insured and 41% of previously uninsured who purchased an ACA plan in 2014 were not aware of the network offered by the product they purchased. Of the consumers who knew which network they picked, 42% picked a narrowed network plan, 58% picked a broad network plan.
