Khoon Tee leads our Indonesia office and is a leader in McKinsey’s Operations Practice in Southeast Asia. He also led McKinsey’s implementation work in Asia.

Over the past decade he has served several leading energy companies throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States on topics of strategy, organization, and operations transformation. He has also worked with major financial institutions and infrastructure companies on corporate transformations and restructuring.

He was recently involved in developing the long-term strategic master plan for a major Asian oil-refining company, which included defining the crude-oil supply chain strategy and refining projects roadmap. He has also developed international growth strategies for refining and petrochemical companies across the value chain, from manufacturing to logistics and marketing.

Khoon Tee helped design and implement a two-year operations-transformation program across five major refineries of an oil and gas company. He also helped roll out an operations-transformation program across several integrated petrochemicals complexes with more than 20 petrochemicals plants, which delivered an annual financial impact of more than $1 billion.

He has also supported financial institutions in digitizing business processes and transforming branch operations to improve customer experience and deliver productivity savings, as well as launching new businesses.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Khoon Tee was a Shell Malaysia scholar.
