Wim is a partner in McKinsey’s London office where he leads the firm’s Manufacturing service line in the United Kingdom. He also leads our asset-productivity work globally and coleads our manufacturing advanced-analytics work in Europe.
Wim brings extensive experience in large-scale manufacturing transformations at chemical and basic-materials clients around the globe. He works to improve client performance, with a specific focus on capability building and managing change.
Wim’s recent transformation work includes developing and rolling out an improved production system for a steel client at 70 sites around the world. Priorities were to drive global standardisation, share best practice, and ensure compliance, while reducing costs. At another major steel player, he led a restructuring transformation, combining large cost-improvement initiatives and focused capability building using the RTS approach. Wim also led the worldwide operational transformation of a specialty-chemical company across three continents. An academy-based rollout reduced costs drastically, while simultaneously increasing overall output. He led the effort to integrate a newly acquired company into a leading European chemical player, introducing a shared manufacturing system across all sites (new and legacy), while bringing about large reductions to the cost base. Recently, he has also led an advanced-analytics program to develop a steel site into a global best practice for manufacturing analytics and digital operations.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Wim worked for Toyota in the supplier production management and development department where he implemented the ‘Toyota Production System’ at their supplier base.
