A vibrant and fun working environment
As a consultant, I can fulfil my curiosity by exploring different industries across the world and tackling many different business challenges. One of the most significant driving forces behind my decision to pursue a consulting career was the opportunity to meet, work and engage with so many fascinating people - both among our clients and colleagues around the globe. The people you are surrounded by at McKinsey is what makes the work so unique and fulfilling.
I would describe the work environment at the office using the Danish expression hyggelig and supportive. When I joined McKinsey, I was surprised by the level of support present in our environment. McKinsey tends to have a competitive reputation, but I found quite the opposite to be true. Within a short period, I found myself surrounded by a strong support network that helped me navigate both work-related and personal matters.
The challenge is to focus your efforts
One of the things I find most exciting about working at McKinsey, is that you are constantly developing. We can shape our career in many different directions according to our interests and aspirations. Personally, this allows me to focus on my passions and enhance my expertise in those specific areas. With so many enjoyable and captivating projects, it is tempting to engage in everything. One of the greatest skills I have developed here is learning to say no and knowing where to focus my efforts to drive most value for myself and my clients.
