We welcome all applicants irrespective of their education or experience - whatever your background, it will allow you to bring in a different perspective on the study and give your skills a relevant boost.

How it works

Application deadline: November 4, 2018 (midnight)

First round: November 5-10, 2018 (online)

Final round: November 15-16, 2018 at McKinsey Prague office (Milevská 5, Praha 4, 140 00)

  • The competition is for Czech/Slovak students and young professionals (up to 5 years of professional experience). Participants need to be fluent in Czech/Slovak language. One team should contain 4-5 members (in each team there must be at least one male and one female member).

  • In the First round (starting November 5), registered teams will receive a challenge - key questions, that are on mind of non profit organizations leaders, together with supporting data for the challenge.

  • Teams will have 6 days to analyze the situation, develop a solution, design and submit their output online. The output in English can be submitted in any form (e.g., video, document, presentation) by November 10. The output must be presentable within a time limit of 15 minutes (no in-person presentations are possible).

  • Top 4-5 teams will be shortlisted out of all submissions and will be invited for the Final round that will take place in McKinsey & Company Prague office on November 15-16. In the Final round, teams will develop and present a solution for a brand new challenge presented by different non-profit organizations on the day. The non-profit leaders will be present in person to provide further background and guidance. A committee composed of McKinsey consultants and the non-profit leaders will assess the teams’ solutions.

  • The winning team will win return flight tickets to a destination of their choice (up to CZK 15 000 per person)

For me, the most beneficial part of the competition was a proximity of the cases to actual consulting work, because they are based on real problems, real figures and real people. Whatever your motivation is for entering the competition, remember that in the end of the day it is all about learning and having fun.

Solve It 2017 was unforgettable! My teammates and I had built a relationship of trust throughout the competition and I can rely on them addressing many issues. Solve It encouraged me to do more meaningful things. I have recently volunteered at Great Barrier Reef targeting marine debris in Australia.

Thanks to Solve It I discovered that there is more to me than I thought. Even as a student, you can change things for the better and you learn something that you can use anywhere.
