Every day I wake up excited to go to work.

A family of talented people

I studied International Relations in Colombia and then moved to South Korea for two years to complete my Master’s in Public Policy. Living in Asia was the most eye-opening experience of my life! After completing my studies, I was convinced that I needed a job I was going to love. I was overjoyed to get an offer from the McKinsey office in Bogotá—I couldn’t believe I was going to join a firm of people I admired so much. I had worked with McKinsey staff at my previous job, so I knew the caliber of people I would be joining. I can happily say that I’ve found a family of talented people that I’m immensely proud to work with. Every day I wake up excited to go to work because I work with the best group of people. I feel I belong to a tribe who care about me and push me to grow.

Projects that create impact for society

I joined the office as the Public-Sector Practice Coordinator for Latin America where I led customer development and internal strategy for two years before transitioning to consulting. This is my fourth year in the firm. I’ve been able to shape my career development by choosing projects that I’d like to be a part of, and luckily I’ve had some of the coolest engagements in our region. I enjoy projects that create impact for large groups of people, particularly in the public sector. For instance, I have assisted various ministries in Latin America in designing five-year development strategies and have also worked on reforming a national healthcare system.

Diversity is strength

I think McKinsey has evolved from being a firm made up of top MBA alumni to being one that is known for recruiting people from all sorts of academic backgrounds. Our diverse academic and cultural differences are a strength. What we have in common is that we are interested in changing the world. The diversity of talent reflects the array of knowledge and skills that today’s clients are demanding. My background has been rewarded by amazing staffing opportunities, on topics I really like, for clients I never dreamed I would work with. I’ve worked with the best engagement managers who were caring, amazing coaches and inspirational role models. I don’t think there is another place on earth with the concentration of cool people that McKinsey manages to recruit.
