I’m capabilities and insights (C&I) specialist based in McKinsey’s Munich office. I am also part of McKinsey’s Client Capabilities Network and my core role is to serve clients in the consumer goods and retail industries with advanced capabilities, insights and solution services. Additionally, I engage myself in recruiting, onboarding, and coaching new colleagues for our team, as well as in learning and knowledge building.
My path to the firm
I was invited to a McKinsey recruiting event while I was studying business administration at the University of Mannheim but wasn’t sure if the “consultant life” was the right thing for me. In 2007 I was told about an internship in the consumer research team, which I applied for and was offered. I enjoyed so much that I joined the team one year later after I finalized my master thesis on consumer behavior.
Rewarding work
So far, my most meaningful project has been to help an Asian consumer goods company expand successfully in Europe and seeing their products in retail afterward – it was really rewarding.
I enjoy being part of an international team and get to work with exceptional individuals from around the world on a daily basis. Additionally, the learning opportunities within McKinsey are unmatched. McKinsey offers an impressive variety of online and in-person trainings that are helpful with managing very challenging day-to-day tasks. Personally, I benefitted the most from the Interpersonal Communication workshop.
At McKinsey, I have learned that you can achieve way more than you believe.
Outside of work
I love to travel and take my four children to exciting places all around the world. This even includes a McKinsey office in one of the tallest buildings worldwide in my favorite city with fantastic colleagues.
