Who You'll Work With

You will be based in one of our office in Amsterdam as part of our Power Solutions team.
The Power Solutions team is made up of two well-differentiated groups that collaborate closely on a day-to-day basis. In the first group there are mostly colleagues who belong to path related to solution leadership and have different technical backgrounds, fundamentally engineers from different careers that have been related to the energy sector. This group is in charge of the ownership and definition of most of our tools from a business perspective and they also lead the delivery of our projects to clients. The second group, the technology group, is made up of a core of software architects and engineers with extensive experience in software development who are technical managers and coordinate an extensive group of profiles of developers, designers, SREs, project managers, data scientists, etc. who are responsible for the implementation and technical operation of our products.
We build Advanced Analytics solutions for Energy players around the world. Our work with government bodies, private and public companies and policy setters is shaping and enabling the energy transition and the decarbonization of economies.

What You'll Do

You will be part of the technology team, focused on product development, fundamentally playing the role of technical product owner in some of the assets that are already part of or will be incorporated into our portfolio. 
As part of this role, you will have to participate in the product design process by the product owner and the stakeholders, and then it will be your responsibility to select and lead a technical team with the necessary skills to implement the defined requirements, and as a cloud engineer, participating and validating the technical decisions that are proposed and following up so that the development process meets both the estimates and deadlines as well as the technical and quality standards and good practices established by the firm, and providing recommendations for key design aspects (e.g. managing the trade-offs inherent in technical debt, by identifying opportunities to create& leverage reusable components).
We hope that you will be able to contribute your expertise, specifically define modules/components, interfaces, and data for a system to satisfy specified requirements and develop robust and easy to maintain solutions; handling database system (relational or non-relational) with deep understanding and application of normalization and database modeling, manage with ease in the 3 domains (Front End, Back End and Cloud), among others.
Another important part of your job will be collaborating on the development of the set of internal tools, software architecture elements and methodologies that we use throughout all our projects. You will be an integral part of our core team with opportunities for coaching and mentorship from your senior colleagues. You will also participate in selecting, growing, and managing our ecosystem of vendor partners.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands on experience with FOSS-based software development
  • Unix/BSD/Linux native
  • Experience with writing tests
  • Experience with back-end development using Python
  • Good understanding of SQL and No-SQL DB systems
  • Good understanding of cloud native tools and cloud providers; understanding of AWS. K8S, Helm is a big plus
  • Understanding of Object Oriented Design, Design Patterns, Service Oriented, Microservices, and Containers
  • Experience with GIT
  • Understanding of shell scripting for Linux and BSD (MacOS)
  • Good understanding of Docker and virtualization, and optionally Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, and an ability to relay complicated technical problems to less technical people, as well as gathering technical details from non-technical people
