You will manage the full range of professional development activities for the GE-O consulting staff in Hamburg from Junior Fellow to Engagement Manager.
In addition to professional development activities, your work will involve closely aligning on staffing-related topics with the respective staffing managers, co-leading and coordinating people activities and initiatives in the local office, and driving strategic initiatives for the whole GE-O.
You will be part of the Local PD team in Hamburg, connecting and collaborating with the local Partner group, the GE-O Professional Development and Staffing groups, and the firm's global network of Professional Development Managers.
You will work at the heart of our firm: our People. You will serve as the go-to person for consultants and Partners in the local office, covering a wide range of responsibilities focusing on local Junior Fellows to Engagement Managers.
You will facilitate professional development and staffing by monitoring each consultant's development, skill development, career progression, and other topics as they arise. You will help consultants interpret feedback and think about their own development. Your work will also involve collaborating closely with the wider Professional Development and Staffing team, Partners, and consultants to ensure adequate staffing options that balance individual development and client needs.
You will build trust and credibility by developing a professional relationship with each consultant, including developing an in-depth understanding of their professional aspirations, experience, strengths, development needs, and relevant personal skills. You will also build a strong, trust-based relationship with the local Partner Group.
You will coordinate evaluation and feedback processes by working closely with the Personnel team to coordinate the consultants' review and evaluation processes. Your work will include preparing for and participating in local PPC meetings, getting involved in upward feedback systems, supporting DGLs in feedback conversations and implementation, and collaborating closely with respective PPC presenters.
You will provide counsel on training, working closely with the GE-O and firm Learning team to ensure consultants receive timely and appropriate training.
You will facilitate the exit process by providing a sensitive and appropriate mix of care and counseling for the individual, along with disciplined monitoring. You will facilitate links to our career coaching and outplacement experts, working closely with respective Managing Partners and DGLs to offer proactive help and ensure a smooth transition.
You will drive special projects, assuming responsibility for a variety of ad hoc or strategic initiatives surfaced by the office leadership, the Professional Development and Staffing community, or other key stakeholders. Your work will also ensure that the GE-O utilizes and helps to enhance the firm's best practices on professional development.

  • University degree; advanced degree is preferred
  • Strong interest in professional development and people topics. Ability to develop professional relationships and connect as a trusted and respected peer with Partners, consultants, and Professional Development colleagues
  • Natural counselor, coach, and mentor. Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative style, with strong communication skills at all levels
  • Strong integrity, maturity, and fairness in dealing with people and confidential information
