Who You'll Work With

You’ll be based in one of our Australian Offices as a part of OptimusAI under our GEMx practice.
OptimusAI is a proprietary solution based on a transformation approach, state-of-the art tools, machine learning models & techniques to increase processing plant productivity (i.e., Yield, Energy, Throughput, and Quality) by developing decision support tools. Our approach blends together a robust delivery process with a highly specialist and collaborative team – both underpinned and supported by proprietary technology and products.

What You'll Do

You will be part of the one of the fastest growing Solution of McKinsey, i.e., OptimusAI that leverages cutting-edge analytical tools to optimize the productivity of heavy industry processing plants.
In this role you will assist data-driven teams to successfully deploy our propriety solutions and apply problem solving to a growing number of client situations. You will also be supporting knowledge development for the firm’s analytic group and help developing a roadmap for a greater understanding of analytics and its impact in the consulting population.
You will work along with the Solution leaders and product development teams as a key contributor to further scale our analytical offering across sectors and regions, and pro-actively suggesting ideas and supporting our product development teams to further enhance OptimusAI value proposition
You will also work in client-facing project in multi-disciplinary teams of 3-5 people, playing an active role in all aspects of client engagement and collaborate with other members of the team to help developing complex Data science code and algorithms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; MBA & advanced analytics degree is a plus
• 3+ years of related experience in consulting & application of advanced analytics, ideally in heavy industry such as Mining & Metals
• Understanding and related experience of statistical programming software on the likes of R and Python is preferred
• Experience working in a rapidly growing business with an entrepreneurial spirit, autonomy, and a keen interest in taking action to build the business in a start-up environment
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
• Ability to thrive in a flexible and collaborative environment
• Thoughtful and comfortable communicator (in person or on paper); ability to facilitate discussions with firm leaders, client or senior management
• Flexible to travel to other offices/client locations for short/long term assignments
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work in English (other languages also welcome)
