Your Impact

As a member of our Japan market compensation team, you will play a key role in implementing the firm’s compensation philosophy, strategy, and design principles in the Japan Office. You will also contribute to initiatives that span other regions or global efforts.
In this role, you will help drive key analyses, processes, and projects regarding compensation. You will collaborate with HR, professional development, talent, and recruiting leaders to ensure our compensation strategy aligns with the firm’s mission of attracting and retaining top talent. You will report to the Japan Market Compensation Lead and work closely with cross-functional teams to drive principles-based compensation design and execution.
Your specific responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): You will independently prepare analysis and materials on a range of compensation topics (e.g., market trend analysis, market-based strategy, benchmarking, compensation model comparisons). You will develop various data analytics reports to drive insights that improve compensation decisions. You will prepare presentations on selected topics for senior leaders.
Additionally, you will prepare client-ready compensation package recommendations for candidate offers and transfers. You will support administration of year-end compensation for specific populations. You will prepare incumbent data reports and analyses and maintain compensation ranges. You will identify areas of improvement within compensation processes and begin to lead continuous improvement efforts.
Lastly, you will lead subsets of special projects and ad-hoc analyses for the Global Compensation Function.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, preferably in business or STEM
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, including building financial models and working with compensation data, structures, and benchmarking
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with tools like Tableau or Power BI (or a willingness to learn)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to capture, organize, and analyze data to generate impactful insights
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify big-picture trends
  • Exemplary judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information with care
  • Strong results-oriented mindset, with the ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Familiarity with compensation benchmarking and prior experience supporting internal or external compensation teams
  • Exposure to digitization initiatives or process improvement projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and clearly with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders
