You will join our growing and entrepreneurial McKinsey Hydrogen Insights team, focused on developing distinctive insights and intelligence products and bringing them to clients.
You'll work closely with our solution leadership and core team, and alongside hydrogen and clean fuels enthusiasts and experts from the broader Hydrogen Service Line and other solution teams in the sustainability space.
Together with client service teams across geographies and industries, you will directly engage and counsel McKinsey's hydrogen and sustainability clients, including integrated energy players, technology OEMs, developers, and investors. You will be based in our Munich office in Germany as part of the international McKinsey Hydrogen Insights Solution. Munich and Boston are our main hubs, with colleagues based globally.
You will be at the heart of client delivery, deploying the proprietary tools and market models that shape how our clients navigate the energy transition. You will make a real, tangible impact by helping them unlock the opportunities hydrogen creates, from decarbonization and energy security to industrial competitiveness and new value pools. Working primarily on client engagements, you will apply, customize, and deliver our proprietary market intelligence assets across the entire hydrogen value chain.
As part of our client service teams, you will provide day-to-day problem-solving, structuring, modeling, and analytical support, running the analyses that inform client decisions and translating results into clear, decision-ready outputs. Over time, you will increasingly join client calls and meetings as a subject-matter expert.
Your analytical work will draw on the full breadth of our hydrogen domain, from key players and the current project landscape to regulatory frameworks, cost and price forecasting, supply-and-demand dynamics, and value and profit pools, supporting client portfolio and investment decisions across core themes such as commercial strategy and offtake, capex acceleration, investing and financing, and trading.
This is primarily a delivery-focused role: you will spend most of your time working directly on hydrogen and clean fuels client projects, deepening your expertise and refining your analytical and thought-partnership skills. Between projects, you will help maintain and improve our proprietary assets.
You'll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm, with exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues across the firm.

Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
